I’m not sure why they can’t get it together. It’s really simple. The President of the United States and each Governor of each respective state are the only people in the United States that have the authority to order our flag the S&S to half staff. So, take a look and this American flag snafu.

2 things – this comes from having served in the US Marine Corps – 1) when flying a flag at half mast you must raise it all the way, then drop to half mast. When lowering you have to run it all the way back up, then lower. People usually miss this last action. 2) to honor those fallen we would run up, then to half mast for a moment, present arms, then run back to the regular position.
Exactly Richard. I have to ask myself…. For all those the citizens that possess the United States Flag and call it theirs. When it comes time to actually show the respect they say they feel. I don’t see that many people using the correct etiquette when displaying the flag. Their are no flag police to ask. If you were a Boy Scout or in the Military you should know. If all I accomplish is to be able to provide a little knowledge to the masses about flags I’ll be happy. Well, Okay. I’d like to earn a living too.
